ELIXIR-Estonia will provide a bioinformatics course that will cover an overview of basic R, statistics, graphical visualization, data management and sharing.
This free course is a collaboration between ELIXIR Estonia and ELIXIR Czech Republic. Single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) allows researchers to study gene expression at the level of individual cells. This approach can, for example, help to identify different cell populations in a complex sample and describe their expression patterns. To generate and analyse scRNA-seq data, several methods are available, all with their strengths and weaknesses depending on the researchers’ needs. This 3-day course will cover the main technologies as well as the main aspects to consider while designing an scRNA-seq experiment. In particular, it will combine the theoretical background of analytical methods with hands-on data analysis sessions focused on data generated by droplet-based platforms.
This 2 day course is designed to provide researchers in biomedical sciences with experience in the application of basic statistical analysis techniques to a variety of biological problems. The course will combine lectures on statistics and practical exercises, during which the participants will learn how to work with the widely used “R” language and environment for statistical computing and graphics.
Topics covered during the course include: reminders about numerical and graphical summaries, and hypothesis testing; multiple testing, linear models, correlation and regression, and other topics. Participants will also have the opportunity to ask questions about the analysis of their own data.
The course extensively covers materials from https://sib-swiss.github.io/Introduction-to-statistics-with-R/
